Two kidnappings within 24 hours in JammuTwo kidnappings in Jammu district within 24 hours have led to fear among residents. People have expressed concern over the rise in incidents of crime in the winter capital.
Fifteen-year-old Vishal Sharma, son of Sarvottam Sharma of Kullan in Bishnah, was abducted on gunpoint from outside his house around 7 pm on Sunday.
“When he did not return home by 9 pm, the police were informed and searches conducted. The family got a telephone call from Pathankot today that the teenager was in custody of the Punjab Police and they heaved a sigh of relief,” said one of the family members.
Vishal informed them that three persons in a Maruti van kidnapped him from outside his house on Sunday night and gave him some sedative. “He managed to flee from captivity of the kidnappers and reached a police station in Punjab,” said a family source.
In the other incident, Sushant Gandotra, son of Kuldeep Kumar Gandotra of Subash Nagar at Rehari in Jammu, studying in Class IX, was found lying unconscious on the road after being thrown from a white Maruti Alto car in the Purkhoo area.
“Local residents immediately took him to a police station, from where the SHO took him to the Government Medical College and Hospital,” said an official of the Domana police station.
Meanwhile, unidentified persons reportedly barged into a house in the Satwari area. “My father twice sent back two unidentified youths from our house. They were trying to get information about my children. I have informed the police, but the youths have not been traced so far,” said Amarjeet Singh.
